REGISTRATION ANSWERS

How much does it cost to register?   Back to Help

It costs nothing to register. It only costs you something when you sell your ice. Or if you post an Ice Wanted ad. To check the pricing schedule Click here Fee Schedule

I registered, but never received a confirmation email. What do I do?   Back to Help

Please be patient as it may take up to an hour to process your registration request. If you have not received your confirmation email within an hour, there are a few possible explanations.  Your local email server may be busy.  You may have entered an incorrect or misspelled email address in the registration form.  Or, you may have iceonsale's emails blocked from your mail server.

The best thing to do is request your confirmation email again by Clicking Here.  If you do not receive this confirmation in the next 24 hours, you may want to contact iceonsale at support@iceonsale.com

Does iceonsale require my credit card when I register?   Back to Help

You can register with iceonsale without using a credit card.  However, if you plan on selling items, it is a good idea to enter your valid credit card number.

How do I update my registration information?   Back to Help

You may update your personal registration information at any time by visiting iceonsale's Edit Personal Information page.  If you follow this link, you will see that edit personal information is first on the list.

What do I do if I forget my password?   Back to Help

Go to the Forgot My Password section of iceonsale. There you will be asked to provide your registered Nickname or Email Address. You will then be sent an email (within 1 hour) that will contain step by step instructions on how to resolve your password problems.

Can I change my iceonsale Nickname/Username?   Back to Help

You may change your Nickname/Username at any time by visiting iceonsale's Edit Personal Information

iceonsale discourages members from frequently changing their Nickname as it is how others come to recognize you.  Continuously changing your Nickname might lead other members to believe that you have something to hide.  You should choose a Nickname that will suit you for the long duration of your membership with iceonsale.

I want to change my email address. Do I have to register again?   Back to Help

If you would like to change your email address, you may do so by visiting Edit Personal Information page.  You do not need to register again and doing so may cause problems with your account.

BIDDING ANSWERS

Is it possible to lower or retract my bid?   Back to Help

It is not possible to lower or retract a bid once it is placed.  Please be very careful when you bid and only place bids that you intend to follow through with.

After I place a bid, can I increase my maximum bid (proxy bid)?   Back to Help

Yes. As long as the auction has not closed, you may submit a new maximum bid.

Where can I get more information about the seller?   Back to Help

You can easily learn more about the seller by browsing through their feedback profile. This is an excellent way to find out about a seller's trading habits and prior dealings on iceonsale.

Why didn't my bid appear on the item's auction page
?
   Back to Help

Your bid will not be recorded if you do not properly complete the following steps:
  • After reviewing the item(s) you want to bid on, enter your maximum bid amount, nickname and password in the spaces provided. Then click on "Review Bid".
  • Review your information and click on the "Submit this Bid" button.
Upon completing these first two steps, you should be taken to a bid confirmation page where you will be notified if you are the current high bidder.

Will the system allow me to bid against myself?   Back to Help

No, bidders are not able to bid against themselves.  If you attempt to place a bid against yourself, you may end up raising your maximum proxy bid, but your current bid will not be affected.

Why am I immediately outbid every time I place a bid?   Back to Help

This means that another bidder has placed a maximum (proxy) bid higher than yours. As soon as your bid was confirmed, our system raised the other member's bid above yours just enough to make them the current highest bidder.

How will I know if I am outbid?   Back to Help

We will send an email to notify you if you have been outbid. It is in your best interest to visit iceonsale periodically due to possible delays with emails.

Why did my bid jump up so high?   Back to Help

If you are bidding in a Reserve auction and you set your maximum bid at a price that is equal or higher than the seller's reserve price, your bid will automatically be raised to meet it. For example, a seller sets a minimum bid at $20 and a reserve price at $50. If you set your maximum bid at $70, your bid will automatically jump to $50 and it will be noted that the reserve price has been met.

Another situation where your bid might jump is when another bidder places a higher maximum bid. Our system will automatically place your bid, up to your set maximum bid, on your behalf.

What if I cannot contact the seller?   Back to Help

Please be patient as the seller may have encountered a personal emergency or has been unable to respond to his/her email.  If you are unable to contact the seller within a reasonable amount of time, we encourage you to leave appropriate feedback to warn others.

What do I do if the seller decides not to sell the item?   Back to Help

Although we do encourage buyers and sellers to follow through with their business obligations, iceonsale cannot force anyone to complete a transaction if they choose not to. If this situation does occur, bidders are encouraged to take action by leaving suitable feedback for the seller to warn others.

I can't buy ice. The system says - "Invalid account or disabled" What do I do?   Back to Help

However, you will not be able to post feedback for the second-highest bidder.  You may leave appropriate feedback about the winning bidder though.

What is the best way to sell my ice time on Iceonsale.com?   Back to Help

The most popular method to sell your ice time is to put a low but reasonable minimum bid and a reserve price that you are willing to accept, and include a buy now price that you are willing to take with out the bidding process. For example you paid $190.00 for a sheet of Ice. You could put a minimum price of $50.00 a reserve price of $175.00 and a Buy Now price of $220.00.

I don't want to auction my ice I just want to sell it?   Back to Help

This is simple to do. Put your selling price as the "Minimum Price", the "Reserve Price" and the "Buy Now" price. This way it wouldn't make any sense for someone to bid on the ice because they would go over the "Buy Now" price and the system will not allow an entry of less than the minimum.

I don't understand the difference between Minimum Price, Reserve Price, and Buy Now price ?   Back to Help

Think of these prices in order. First the Minimum Price is the price where you want the bidding can start. This can be low to entice the bidders to begin the process. Reserve Price is the lowest price that you are willing to accept for the ice. No matter how low the Minimum you don't have to accept the bid until it meets your Reserve Price. Buy Now gives bidders the option of clicking on the Buy Now price to bypass the auction process and "just buy the ice".

TRADING ANSWERS

How do I trade my ice?   Back to Help

Locate the rink where your ice is located and click “Post here”.  You will need to enter your nickname and password at this point.  Then choose the “Post single auction or trade” and then Press “Continue”. At this point you need to enter the basic information about your sheet of ice and your pricing choices. Make sure to click the “Make available for trade” box.   Click “Continue” and you will get a chance to review your information.  If everything is ok then you click “Add Auction” and you will be shown a confirmation screen.  That’s how easy it is.  Your ice time is now on the system for other people to trade or bid on.

I see some ice that I want to trade for,  What do I do?   Back to Help

First, Post your ice time on the system and make sure that you indicate that you want to trade the ice time.  Next, from the ice time listing that you want to trade for click on the “Trade ice” icon.  You will be asked for your nickname and password.  Select your ice time that you want to trade. Click “Continue” Review the ice trade information and Click “Request ice trade”.  You will get a confirmation page with the trading information for your review.  Now you wait for the other user to respond to your request for trade.  If he doesn’t respond within 24 hours then the trade will automatically be rejected.

I offered to trade some ice and my auction won't accept any bids. What is wrong?   Back to Help

There is nothing wrong.  The system locks both ice times while a trade is pending. This is done so a bidder will not be bidding on ice time when there is a high probability he will not be successful.

How will I know if the trade is accepted?   Back to Help

Both users will receive an email when a user accepts a trade offer which will confirm the trade.

I see some ice I am willing to trade for but it is at a different rink.  Can I offer a trade for Ice  at a different rink?   Back to Help

Yes.  That is one of the great features of www.iceonsale.com.  Users that live close to multiple rinks are no longer artificially restricted to only one rink

How long does a user have to respond to a trade?   Back to Help

You have 24 hours to respond to a trade.

iceonsale discourages members from frequently changing their Nickname as it is how others come to recognize you.  Continuously changing your Nickname might lead other members to believe that you have something to hide.  You should choose a Nickname that will suit you for the long duration of your membership with iceonsale.

I was out of town and didn't respond to a trade but I want to accept it.  What can I do?   Back to Help

If the other person’s ice is still on the system then you can offer a trade to that person with your ice.  I would recommend that you use our messaging system and let them know that you were out of town and couldn’t trade last time.

I was refused a trade but I still want that ice time.    Is there anything I can do?   Back to Help

Yes.  You could always bid on the ice and try to win the auction as the highest bidder.

What is the 24 hour rule?   Back to Help

There are two 24 hour rules.  A pending trade should last 24 hours and you can’t have an auction in the “Trade Pending” status during the last 24 hours of an auction.

We believe that a great deal of activity for an auction will be in the last 24 hours of an auction.  This has been the case at other auction sites and we think it will be true here also. That’s why we won’t allow an auction to be in the trade pending status in the last 24 hours. When an auction is marked as “Trade Pending” no one can bid on the auction.

I placed a trade but the owner of the ice didn't get 24 hours to respond What happened?   Back to Help

If you placed a trade and if either ice time was going to expire in less than 48 hours then the trade pending status would only last until there were 24 hours left on either auction. For example, if there were 36 hours left on one of the auctions and 2 weeks on the other then the “Trade Pending” status would last 12 hours. 36-24 = 12

GENERAL ANSWERS

Why is there that funny flag next to an item?   Back to Help

This is an indication that this auction is actually an "Ice Wanted" ad. The little Ice wanted flag is to indicate that you want ice and that it isn't a normal auction.
